  • What is the venue like?

How exciting is it that we are getting married in Hannah’s little hometown of Cannington, ON? We are very fortunate to have been connected to our venues through Hannah’s Uncle Dave and Aunt Susan (THANK YOU!) who live just down the road from where everything will be taking place. Our ceremony will happen at a large private farm property, with a big beautiful barn, river, and pond serving as a backdrop. The reception is down the road on another large private property that has plenty of parking, camping, and partying space. There are permanent restroom buildings, a playground, and ample spaces for us to eat, dance, and have a great time.

  • How far apart are these two locations?

Barring inclement weather that alters our options, we have two different locations planned for the day that are on the same country road outside of town. There is about a 15 minute, 1 kilometre walk between the two spots we will be using, down an unpaved country road. If you are concerned about not being able to manage the walk back and forth, please let us know when you RSVP so we can make sure you have a lift arranged between, or possibly can park your car at the ceremony venue (parking spaces there will be limited).

  • What is parking like?

The reception space is far back from the road, so there is ample parking available on the grass. If for any reason it is not feasible for you to walk down the street and back to get to the ceremony, please let us know as we might be able to park a few cars at the ceremony property.

We are in the process of booking shuttles from the two hotels listed on the Where to Stay page. More information will be provided at a later date. Please note: the shuttles will be dependent on the number of people who book at each hotel and may be canceled or reduced based on those numbers.

  • What should I wear? What’s the vibe?

It will be a semi-formal dress event, so throw on a nice suit or dress, but we encourage you to take the outdoor nature and weather into account when planning your outfit. Both the ceremony and reception will be fully outside, you’ll be walking along grass and unpaved roadways, there will be a bonfire and lawn games. So be sure to consider all those elements when choosing your outfit. There is still room to get fancy, but you might just need to save the stilettos for another event so you don’t sink into the ground.

  • Where should I stay?

All the info you need about where to stay can be found on the Where to Stay page. If you are the camping type, there is space at the venue for you to park a trailer or a tent, and if that’s not your thing, we have two hotel blocks in nearby Lindsay or Orillia.

Please note: the hotel blocks have cutoff dates after which the rooms will be released to the general public. Please see the individual dates on the Where to Stay page.

  • Did I choose a meal when I RSVP’d or not, I can’t remember?

Since I feel like I ask this question every time we have a wedding coming up, thought it would be a good detail to include here. Our dinner will be served buffet style, so you don’t need to choose it until you are directly in front of it on the day. When you RSVP you’ll be prompted to provide dietary restrictions you may have so we can make sure everyone enjoys their meal.
